「金合歡」在小雛菊花藝學校的花藝課程裡,妮晏老師視它為「有時間記憶」的花材,因此,在每年的冬末春初時,金合歡盛產的季節,妮晏老師總會將金合歡加入花藝作品的設計裡,讓同學們在未來再次與金合歡相遇時,便會想起某一年的冬天,曾經在小雛菊花藝學校的課堂裡使用過這款花材,成為同學們心裡的一抹「時間記憶」。

金合歡,學名Acacia dealbata,屬於豆科,相思樹屬,原產於澳洲。

金合歡也是澳洲的國花,為了慶祝春天的到來,澳洲每年會在9月(南半球的春天)舉辦「金合歡節」,以這些串串金黃而圓潤的小花來送禮及慶祝。早在65000 多年前,澳洲原住民就已經開始運用金合歡的各項特性,其枝幹可以做為燃燒的木材、武器、工具等,花粉和汁液可以製成食物、藥材等。金合歡獨特的香氣也使它能被提煉成為精油,在室內空間擺上一把金合歡,即可聞到它獨特的芬芳氣味。

金合歡屬於可自然乾燥的花材,因此經常被作為手綁花圈的花材,或是將其倒掛放置陰乾也能製作天然的乾燥金合歡。乾燥過後的金合歡,金黃色的球狀花穗會稍微縮水,並且呈現較深的褐黃色。在限定季節出現的金合歡,讓我們能在新鮮狀態時欣賞它飽滿的亮黃,也能夠在乾燥後維持它結實纍纍的意象,象徵著豐收與美滿。

✿ Flower Recognition Moment ep 25 / Golden Wattle

In the flower arranging courses at Daisy Academy, Teacher Ni-Yen considers the golden wattle as a material with “time memories.” Therefore, during the season when golden wattle blooms abundantly, typically at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, Teacher Ni-Yen always incorporates golden wattle into the design of floral arrangements. This allows students to recall a specific winter when they used this material in the flower arranging classes at Daisy Academy, creating a touch of “time memory” in their hearts.

Golden wattle, scientifically named Acacia dealbata, belongs to the legume family and the Acacia genus. It is native to Australia.

Golden wattle is also the national flower of Australia. To celebrate the arrival of spring, Australia hosts the “Golden Wattle Festival” every September (spring in the southern hemisphere). During this festival, the golden and rounded small flowers are used for gifting and celebration. Over 65,000 years ago, Australian indigenous people began utilizing various features of golden wattle. Its branches could be used as burning wood, weapons, tools, while the pollen and sap could be used for food and medicinal purposes. The unique fragrance of golden wattle allows it to be distilled into essential oil, filling indoor spaces with its distinctive aroma.

Golden wattle is a material that naturally dries, making it suitable for hand-tied flower wreaths. It can also be hung upside down to air dry, creating natural dried golden wattle. After drying, the golden spherical flower clusters of golden wattle may shrink slightly and take on a deeper brownish-yellow color. The appearance of golden wattle during its limited season allows us to appreciate its vibrant yellow in its fresh state and maintain the image of abundance and fulfillment even after drying, symbolizing a bountiful harvest.
