非洲菊，學名Gerbera jamesonii，屬於菊科，大丁草屬，原產於南非；圖中品種為鵝黃色捲邊非洲菊，在花市裡也常被稱為捲捲非洲菊。
捲邊花瓣的非洲菊，是非洲菊眾多花瓣型態的其中一種，像是燙了一頭可愛活潑的捲髮，給人輕盈自在的跳動感，也像是可口的義大利捲心麵條，鵝黃色捲邊非洲菊的英文名即是Pasta Carbonara，由此可知pasta麵條與這款花種的相似程度，因此將捲邊非洲菊融入餐桌花藝也是一個不錯的選擇，與餐盤裡的美食相呼應。

瓶插在水中的非洲菊，不建議水位裝太高，避免花莖大面積且長時間泡水可能導致腐爛，建議每天勤勞洗花瓶、換水、幫花莖底部修剪新鮮切口，以保持非洲菊的健康與新鮮；非洲菊的花莖容易彎曲、折斷，有需要的話，可以為花朵架鐵絲加固，使用魚鉤法，意即先從花托底部將鐵絲穿至花朵上方後，折出一個彎彎的小魚鉤後，再將鐵絲往回拉，底下長長的部分就可以繞著花莖旋轉，以此方法來固定非洲菊較脆弱的花頭跟花莖。

African daisy, scientifically known as Gerbera jamesonii, belongs to the family Asteraceae and the genus Gerbera. It is originally from South Africa. The one shown in the picture is a cream pasta carbonara. It is often referred to as the “curled-edge African Daisy” in flower markets.
The African daisy with curled petals is one of the many petal variations found in African daisies. Its lively and playful petal shape, resembling the curly hair being heated and also the delicious pasta, gives it a delightful sense of movement. The English name for the yellow curled African daisy is “Pasta Carbonara,” indicating the similarity between its petals and pasta noodles. Therefore, incorporating pasta carbonara into your table flower arrangements is a great choice, as they can complement the culinary delights on your plate.

When placing African daisies in a vase, avoid having the water level too deep to prevent the stems from rotting. It’s advisable to diligently wash the vase, change the water, and trim the stems daily to keep African daisies healthy and fresh. African daisy stems are prone to bending and breaking. If necessary, you can secure African daisies with wire, using the “fish hook method.” This involves threading the wire from the base of the flower head to above the flower, creating a small fish hook-shaped bend, and then pulling the wire back down. The long part of the wire at the bottom can be wrapped around the fragile flower head and stem using this method to keep them in place.
