新娘花，學名Serruria florida，屬於山龍眼科，嬌娘花屬，原產於南非。
新娘花的英文名被稱為「臉紅的新娘」，正如它的花朵外型一般，像是披著白色頭紗的新娘，卻藏不住臉頰上的嬌意。
常見的新娘花品種有白色外瓣與粉色外瓣，最外層的外瓣會透著淡綠色，中心會是粉色絨毛狀小花，整顆花頭棉柔細緻，散發著粉嫩的少女氣息。
謠傳法國胡格諾教派的男性在與心儀的女性見面時，會配戴新娘花製作的胸花，胸花上的粉色越深，代表有越高的可能性這位男士即將進行求婚。
值得一提的是，多數山龍眼科的植物都具有可自然乾燥的特性，雖然新娘花有著毛茸茸的外表，卻也能做為乾燥花材來使用；乾燥過後的新娘花外瓣質感堅硬，是因為真正的花是中間的絨毛部份，外瓣其實是它的萼片。如果有機會購買新娘花鮮花，除了可以在當下感受它的柔美，也可以嘗試在新鮮的狀態觀賞5-7日後停止供水，並倒掛於通風處，使它自然乾燥，延續這份浪漫的情意。

新娘花較容易失水，可將花莖上的細葉摘除乾淨，並給予較高水位，且避免放置在溫度較高的環境當中，以避免花頭失水而垂軟。

✿ Flower Recognition Moment ep 9 / Blushing Bride
The blushing bride, scientifically known as Serruria florida, belongs to the Proteaceae family and the Serruria genus. It is native to South Africa.
The English name of the flower perfectly captures its appearance, which is as if the flower is blushing beneath its white veil, resembling a bride’s red cheek.
Common varieties of the blushing bride come in white or pink outer petals. The outermost petals have a hint of pale green, while the center is covered in pink and wooly-like small flowers. The whole flower head is delicate and cottony, which bears a resemblance to a young lass.
There is a rumor that men of the Huguenot faith in France used to wear corsages made from blushing bride flowers when meeting women they admired. The deeper the pink on the corsage, the higher the likelihood that the man would propose.
It’s worth noting that many plants in the Proteaceae family have a natural drying characteristic. Although the blushing bride has a fluffy appearance, it can also be used as dried flower material. After drying, the outer petals of the blushing bride become firm to the touch because the true “flower” is the velvety part in the center, while the outer petals are actually sepals. If you ever have the opportunity to obtain blushing brides, you can not only appreciate their softness at the moment but also consider stopping watering them after 5-7 days in their fresh state, drying and preserving them to prolong this romantic sentiment.

Blushing brides tend to lose water easily. To prevent this, you can remove the small leaves from the stems, provide them with a higher water level, and avoid placing them in a warm environment to prevent the flower heads from wilting.
