康乃馨，學名Dianthus caryophyllus，屬於石竹科，石竹屬，原產於南歐及西亞；圖中品種為美國進口黃色中康乃馨。
每到母親節，我們總會想起康乃馨，而康乃馨與母親節的淵源，是關於耶穌基督的民間流傳故事，非聖經記載的內容；故事提到，當耶穌被釘上十字架後，聖母瑪利亞抱著耶穌哭泣時，她眼淚滴落之處，盛開了世界上第一朵康乃馨，因此，世人將康乃馨作為象徵「母親的愛」的寓意流傳至今。
台灣在地種植的中康乃馨，常見以紅色、桃紅色、粉色、紫色為主，圖中美國進口的黃色中康乃馨顏色較清透，不過價格會相對本地康乃馨來的高一些。不同於大康乃馨，中康乃馨開花後花頭較小，呈現精緻小巧的美感；中康乃馨屬於一枝多分岔，花朵與花苞數量多，花瓣呈現透亮的奶油黃，像是數隻蝴蝶在花間起舞，也像是蛋糕上的鮮奶油擠花一般，十分可愛。
康乃馨的賞花時間長，養護簡單，作為平時瓶插的觀賞是很好的選擇，且在花藝作品中穿插花頭小的花朵，也能增加作品的精緻度與豐富性，花朵自然的分岔使花朵有高有低，使用在作品裡有著最天然的層次與跳動感，推薦大家下次創作花藝作品時可以使用看看。
🌱小提醒:
屬於石竹科的康乃馨，其莖上節點易折損，需小心拿取。另外，如果遇到未開花的康乃馨呈現含苞的狀態，可以輕輕搓揉其花瓣下方的肥厚花托處，一搓一轉可以輕輕地幫助康乃馨開花，提早欣賞其盛放的模樣。

✿ Flower Recognition Moment ep 13 / Spray Carnation
Carnation, scientifically known as Dianthus caryophyllus, belongs to the Caryophyllaceae family and Dianthus genus. Originally from Southern Europe and Western Asia, the one shown in the picture is the yellow spray carnation imported from the United States.
On Mother’s Day, we often think of carnations. The connection between carnations and Mother’s Day stems from a folklore story about Jesus Christ, not recorded in the Bible. The story goes that when Jesus was crucified, his mother, St. Mary, wept, And where her tears fell, the world’s first carnation bloomed. Hence, people have since symbolized carnations as a representation of a mother’s love.
The locally grown carnations in Taiwan are commonly seen in shades of red, pink, peach, and purple. The yellow carnations imported from the United States shown in the picture, have a clearer color, but their price tends to be relatively higher compared to the locally grown carnations. Different from the large carnations, medium-sized carnations have smaller flower heads, presenting an exquisite and delicate beauty. These medium-sized carnations branch into multiple stems, producing numerous flowers and flower buds. Their petals exhibit a bright creamy yellow hue, resembling several butterflies dancing among the flowers or akin to fresh cream piped onto a cake, making them incredibly charming.
Carnations have a long flowering period, require simple care, and make an excellent choice for regular vase displays. Introducing these small-headed flowers in floral arrangements can increase the refinement and diversity of the artwork. Their naturally branching flowers have varying heights, providing the most natural layers and a sense of movement in the artwork. You may try it in your next floral creation.
🌱Reminder:
Carnation belongs to the caryophyllus family, the nodes on the stems are easily broken, so be careful when handling them. In addition, if you encounter unflowered carnations that are in bud, you can gently rub the thick receptacle under the petals, rubbing and turning can gently help the carnations bloom, and appreciate their blooming appearance in advance.
